SmartReading Certified Rating System for Reading

Selected books - we select good books

The book list is created based on a catalogue containing many award-winning titles, including books from the Golden Tripod Awards and the Selection of Reading Materials for Primary and Secondary School Students established by the Ministry of Culture; the Good Books for Everyone selected by the Taipei Public Library; the Openbook Good Book Award, and the Children's Literature Recorder Award, as well as excellent readings recommended by professional teachers. Through the use of AI book-rating technologies developed by the team, the difficulty level of each of the books in the catalogue can be precisely analyzed.
The selected book list includes diverse categories of titles from picture books, fiction, biographies, and books on scientific knowledge and philosophy, to classics and award-winning titles. It is an indicative book list that combines education with technology.

Rating system for reading – everyone has an easier time selecting books

SmartReading establish SR values (book difficulty level) through analyzing a large number of books from different fields and at different difficulty levels using AI book-rating technologies. When the SR value of a book is higher, it means the book is more difficult and the reading ability required is also higher. The SR value provides a reference index for adaptive reading. At present, the system has cumulatively analyzed nearly 50,000 excellent traditional Chinese books. You can find books that suit you here. It is hoped that both adults and children can find books that are interesting and in line with their reading ability on the SmartReading platform, and that they can happily receive new knowledge.

Promotion of a Rating System for Reading

Leveled books serve two important functions. The first is to provide objective information for students, teachers, and parents to better find books appropriate for different reading capabilities and preferences. The second function is for schools, educators, and parents to keep track of the reading progress being made by learners. By providing the SR value and difficulty levels for books, it can aid educators in carefully selecting the suitable textbooks or books, based on the grade of the learners.
In order to promote reading education and adaptive reading, the team provides all selected books and book difficulty values (SR values) to educational institutions of all levels, as well as teachers, students, and parents free of charge. The information can then be used as a reference for book selections and for teaching so that students, teachers, and parents can quickly find books suitable for readers of different abilities .
